WHO WE ARE:
Ohana Coffee Farm is a family owned and operated organic coffee farm, processing facility (pulping, milling, roasting, grounding and packaging) and marketing enterprise specializing in producing quality gourmet coffee.
WHAT WE DO:
We grow arabica coffee in an environmentally and socially sustainable way. We handpick and ecologically process our coffee cherry. We sun-dry the parchment coffee, hull polish and roast to order for immediate shipment to you.
WHERE WE WORK:
We are located in Mountain View, just 11 miles from Hilo on the East side of the island of Hawaii. The rich volcanic soil, high altitude and abundant rain fall combined with cool, misty conditions and organic growing principles, make our arabica coffee beans some of the most sought after in the USA and worldwide.
ENVIRONMENT WITHIN OUR OPERATIONS:
* 100% naturally grown without the use of chemical fertilizers, pesticides or similar chemicals
* Coffee crops integrated with sheep to control weeds and supply organic matter to the soil
* Use of honey bees to increase entomophilies pollination efficiency
* The Demucilage method (low-water-use processing system) uses only 1.8% of the water required for the Standard WET/FERMENTATION method. This prevents, reduces and controls water contamination preserving coffee bean quality (no sour or fermented flavors in the cup and no loss in net weight that occurs during fermentation).
* The parchment is sun-dried on African beds (raised flat-bed structures that allow more airflow to pass through the coffee during drying)
* The by-products (pulp and mucilage) transformed into valuable products like humus.

At Ohana Coffee Farm we are committed to making use of all natural energy producing resources for farm operations. This greatly reduces oil dependency by using 100% renewable solar energy to power our ecological processing facility.
